Zaynab (name)

Zaynab (also spelled as Zeynab, Zainab and Zainub) is an Arabic female given name. It means 'a fragrant flowering plant', 'Desert Flower' or 'an ornamented tree'. It is believed to be a corruption of Zenubia, a pre-Islam Syrian queen.[1]

Another meaning for Zaynab is Zayn + Ab. Zayn meaning beauty or goodness, Ab being derived from Father. It was a name given by the prophet to any girl whose name back then was Baarra (Good to her parents/ obedient) The name Baarra being difficult to match in some instances and thought of as a presemption, Zaynab fared better in the post-Jahiliyyah times.
