User:Metzenberg. Report by User:ZayZayEM Re; edit warring and civility over articles: Jewish opposition to evolution, Jewish reactions to intelligent design, Judaism and evolution, Natan Slifkin.

I removed an initial Incident report[1] after User:Metzenberg made a statement to the effect he was abandonning wikipedia. He has since returned and impeteously filed a Request for Arbritration against me[2]. Oh, turns out he also reported me here on AN/I as well[[3].

User:Metzenberg's reaction to my edits have been reactionary and increasingly paranoid.

I would like action taken so that User:Metzenberg understands:

  • it's not okay to brand other editors as trolls, sockpuppets, wikistalking
  • it's not okay to make accusations that other editors are violating wikipedia integrity (eg. by tampering logs)
  • wikipedia is a collaborative project, and editors are free to edit any articles they want
  • addition of templates such as deletion, citation, NPOV, noncompliance; are not attacks directed at the articles editors, but expression of concern by other editors
  • such templates should not be removed lightly without discussion

User:Metzenberg has made it very uncomfortable for me to edit Wikipediaby driving a smear campaign (that I am only just beginning to find out the extent of[4][5]) to tarnish my repuation as a positive contributor to wikipedia. This is not on. It's defamatory. It's offensive. And it creates anasty fingerpointing environment.

User:Metzenberg has made little attempt to address my concerns about these articles - instead he has been happy to:

  • label me a troll
  • accuse me of wikistalking and harrassmnent
  • accuse me of being a sockpuppet
  • accuse me of being an administrator
  • accuse me of tampering with edit logs
  • accuse me and User:Guettarda of conspiring against him[6]

User:Metzenberg has attempted to assert ownership over articles. He refuses to collaborate on articles. He has continually instantly reverted many edits I have made on the mentioned pages without any other explanation beyond the previously mentioned baseless ad hominem attacks. One particular incident included him reverting my deletion of irrelevant images "because it was cute".

Other Civility matters User:Metzenberg has used to harrass and insult me include:

  • making rude comments my nationality
  • demanded I abandon any attempts to edit an article
  • claimed that I should not edit articles I have no interest in

User:Metzenberg appears to have this stance against any edits that "oppose" him. When a user tagged one of "his" articles for speedy deletion[7]. He got upset and called that user "silly"[8] and demand that he be given time to set up an article first before it be considered because he was an "established wikipedia author[s], those who [has] created many dozens of articles already". When told this didn't excuse removal of templates from articles, he simultaneously claimed innocence from naivety and authority from experience:

"I've never had a speedy deletion tag put on what I was doing. Never. I mean it. So I was not even familiar with the wikipedia procedure. In over a year here, I've never even seen that tag. I write, but I don't do admin or edit. I do appreciate those who do a lot of admin duties. Now, not to be testy necessarily, but what I am suggesting is, since you're brand new at this, look at the history of edits that a person has done, and you can generally see right away whether the writer/editor is somebody who makes serious contributions"[9]

Please compare with non-policy WP:BITE and WP:IAC. User:Metzenberg made similar complaints about my editing behaviour. Claiming that my recent RfC on Nova (English school in Japan) was evidence enough that I was only on Wikipedia to cause trouble. He also ignored my four year history on Wikipedia (admitted on my userpage) and claimed I "clearly knows too much about Wikipedia to have simply arrived here a few weeks ago, as his edit record implies" - despite my edit record showing I arrived 11 Sept 2004[10]. User:Metzenberg hasn't followed his own advice to "look at the history of edits that a person has done" to evaluate whether someone is a positive contributor or not.

I utilise "[[WP:Policy" frequently because it means I don't have to restate arguments/ideas that have already been worded much better by a bunch of other people. This appears to have intimidated User:Metzenberg, and instead of mentioning his concerns to me about overuse of wikipolicy - he brands me as a troll.
