Zanzibari riyal

The riyal was the currency of Zanzibar from ca. 1883 to ca. 1908. It was subdivided into 136 pysa. The riyal was replaced by the Zanzibari rupee at about 1 rupee = 0.5 riyal.
Little is known about this currency. The riyal was only available in coins, in the values of 1 pysa, 1/4 riyal, 1/2 riyal, 1 riyal, 2.5 riyal, and 5 riyal.
