[edit] Ozzy's Band

You guys should get it right he got the audition with Ozzy through a mutual contact who heard him play. Check his website it tells the truth from the horses mouth. Another thing is that his paddle wah is the Jimi Hendrix version. Randy Rhoads is his Idol man, and you have to know that all guitarists are measured by who influernced them. For example Duane Allman was a big fan of Howlin' Wolf and old time bluesmen just listen to his style. Rather than saying that a players style is like anothers just say that another players style is determined by his influences.

i dont believe that zakk is ozzys guitarist anymore, its pretty well documented.

in Respect and Peace Mike Bomberry

This list of possible ways Zakk got in Ozzy's band is very unscholarly. Either we put the one that is true, or we say it is uncertain. Zakk has given different stories as to how it happened. The "horse's mouth" has been inconsistent. So someone needs to clean this up, or I will. -ocoufnoc

i've got a cd-r copy of zakk wylde's 1987 demo tape. Gringo300 11:15, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Zakk's religion

I do know Zakk's music and stuff is kinda dark but I've seen his concert stuff too and he does the cross motion that you see catholics also do. Anybody have any clue if Zakk has a religion besides his own where he is the living guitar god? It's probably a division of christianity, but which one? I can't find anything yet.

[edit] Zakk's equipment

Does anyone know what frets Zakk uses? I remember reading in his Guitar World column that he uses Dunlop frets, but I forget which size.

[edit] Removed Conservative Content

I edited the line "Wylde is also believed to be politically conservative, and shares beliefs with the Republican party; one of the few musicians to openly do so." as it implies that not many musicians are conservative. On the contrary, heavy metal boasts some of the most outspoken conservative musicians, including Dave Mustaine, Slayer, and Dying Fetus.

It was not your place to edite that material. Despite what you may have convinced yourself of, conservative musicians ARE hard to find and outspoken ones are even harder. Zakk is one in a million. You listed Mustaince, Slayer, and Dying Fetus as other outspoken heavy metal conservatives. You obviously don't know much about it. Mustaine is anti-politician. He has a picture of many major politicians on the fron of "The System Has Failed." He has spoken against many politicians Republican and Democrat. He has a soundbite of George H. W. Bush in one of his songs where he talks about "no new taxes." He even covered the Democratic National Convention once. I am reverting this section.

"Some believe that Wylde is one of few musicians to be openly conservative, as he has stated he does not like when people talk bad about the government."

How does that statement translate to him being conservative? This conservative labeling does need a cite or needs to be removed.Manufracture 14:25, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Zakk's Southern Roots

So, I read in the Zakk Wylde Wiki that he's from New Jersey. But, that's definitely nowhere near being a southern state, yet Zakk has a really big "Southern Man" attitude. Did he grow up in the south? Just wondering, btw, not knockin' the guy at all.

No he didnt grow up in the south as far as I am aware. However, he was fascinated by Southern Rock, e.g Lynyrd Skynrd etc.

Im from south jersey so as far as im conserned theres 2 parts of jersey south jersey and north jersey. weither hes from north or south im not sure but to me it really doesnt matter to me his music is awsome and i can tell that there is some southern influences and it sounds really good

[edit] Gear section

Isn't the gear section a little excessive? I doubt even many guitarists are going to really care about every little thing Zakk Wylde uses. Zakk fans in particular might, but the information is useless to the rest of us and just clutters the page. I think it'd be best to just note his most famous guitars and not even list what specific pedals he uses, and things like amp settings, instrument cable brands, etc. certainly don't belong at all. I'm cleaning it up a little. - furrykef (Talk at me) 06:27, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

If you don't care about Zakk's gear section, please don't remove that text from the article, because we fans want to read about it. That's very interesting info.

Nelson ImI 06:14, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

your damn right im lookin for one of the types of his guitars mabey that info could have been useful so dont be a butthole

As I explained already (in the section below), I did not remove the entire gear section, I removed an excessively long and unencyclopedic list. Things like the settings of his amplifiers do not belong in this article. Don't call me a butthole when it doesn't even seem you understand what exactly I did. - furrykef (Talk at me) 01:47, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Gear section

Fuck you. It's not your place removing it. Most people that go on wiki to look up Zakk would appreciate that section.

Excuse me? Might I remind you we're using a wiki? It's my place to remove anything I damn well please -- just as it was your place to add it -- as long as the removal is in line with the guidelines and I don't start a war over whether or not something should be removed. That was completely uncalled for. Are we going to behave and discuss this like gentlemen, or are you going to hurl obscenities at me for doing what I felt was my job? - furrykef (Talk at me) 07:04, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

I would say keep the extensive gear section - most people looking at Zakk here will be interested.

I managed to restore the info on Zakk's Gear, because as a fan and guitarist I was interested about that text and I believe that other people in the same situation, either fans or guitarists (or both), will be as well.

Nelson ImI 06:14, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

You seem to misunderstand; what was in the gear section was much longer than what's there now. The list I removed is here -- as you can see, this is very long, unwieldy, and just noise to anybody who isn't already a fan of Zakk Wylde. I also did leave some information about his gear. What you have now is much shorter, compact, and reasonable. - furrykef (Talk at me) 21:06, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ozzy Drug Dealer

I removed this, check Black Label Society, he was/is NOT Ozzy's Drug Dealer, I am a big Zakk Wylde fan myself, I have his Epiphone Les Paul

oh your a fuckin shit head...zakk himself even said he was ozzy's drug dealer, and who gives a shit if u have the epiphne guitar, epi's suck...gibsons the way to go

-How about a citation then? If you're going to mention something like that, even as a rumour or allegation, you should provide more than heresay. Also, lovely language, really befitting of an encyclopedia.

fine... watch this interview....he even admits it http://youtube.com/watch?v=KHR2RLJilcA&search=SDMF

Are you guys too dim to realize he was joking? Cdwillis 16:44, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Recent Zakk Wylde's Bio Editing

I had part of the text re-arranged in order to put information more or less shown in a chronologic order. Also, uploaded a picture of Zakk's Signature Model Guitar. If someone disagrees with the changes, you're free to try and arrange it better.

[edit] 357Customs.com editing

I've replaced the 357customs.com entry, it was very poor in grammer and quality of style. Understandable given the frustration directed at 357 Customs and Zakk Wylde but most of the comments were highly biased, accusatory, and used open speculation as fact - not conforming to Wikipedia's standards of neutrality. It was also very messy and posted like an ugly blog. I've moved all the links that that show Chad Dyer's character into the references section under footnotes since they should not be quoted on the main page. All the relevant facts have been kept.

I've added a paragraph explaining the actual dispute in addition to purported information regarding Daniel's past with bankruptcies and as a flight risk for the FBI. I've also added in information regarding Zakk's responsibility in this matter insofar as all the Zakk Wylde related products involved in this dispute. Jdng 00:52, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for working on this section!
I added several {{fact}}} tags to this section. It still needs some more work. I understand this is a contentious issue and that many of the allegations are likely true. However, they must be backed up with verifiable sources. Some of the sources already in this section are relatively weak (web forum posts are generally not very good sources for encyclopedia articles) but given the timeliness of this section I hope we can agree that there are more important facts which need sources than those particular ones. Over time, however, I expect even those allegations and assertions will be either supported by verifiable, reputable sources or removed altogether. --ElKevbo 16:51, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Its all gone now —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.98.217.220 (talk • contribs) 15:03, 19 June 2006.
I restored it. It needs to be cleaned up, not deleted outright. --ElKevbo 20:20, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
That isn't stopping someone from trying to delete the section anyway. Something should be done. ErikNY 20:59, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
I left him or her a note on his or her Talk page. If the deletes continue we can ask for a block of that IP address. No sweat! --ElKevbo 21:08, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
I've requested semi-protection. Let's see what (if anything) comes from this. --ElKevbo 03:59, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
I've continued to delete this entry because of the lack of references relating to your allegations. Referencing a forum is not a credible source for the allegations you are making. Do you have any credible sources? --TxHorns 10:06, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
As stated before, the section needs to be cleaned up, not deleted. The messages from the BLS website were there - I saw them. They are no longer there and I welcome suggestions on how best to document sources which are currently unavailable. The other references also need to be improved and we welcome any help or input you can offer.
Simply deleting the entire section, however, appears to be whitewashing the entire incident. If it needs to be improved, please do so. Deletion is not improvement. --ElKevbo 15:34, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
It is my opinion that until you have credible sources you can reference in the article, it should not be posted. This is not a forum page and until you can backup these allegations they are simply statements of slander that should be left to forum sites. It also does not relate to Zakk Wylde directly. maybe it should be posted under 357. --TxHorns 10:06, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Zakk Wylde's official website is not a credible source? Clean up the section if you wish, move the bulk of it to a new article, or find another way to address the problem. Completely deleting it is unnecessary and, IMHO, vandalism. Judging by the article's history, consensus is that the section stays. Please work with us to fix the problems instead of acting unilaterally to delete material with which you disagree. --ElKevbo 18:58, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Indeed, as an ongoing current event and an entry reporting on the various events regarding 357 customs, forums and online content and news (including announcements from the official corporate websites of the parites invovled) are the primary sources. Additionally, the article did indeed contain citations to Florida State Records as well as official news articles relevant to this event before TxHorns applied the chilling effect to the article. I do agree that it may be better suited to a news article or a seperate page. Jdng 00:51, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Zakk Wylde has just filed suit in the State of California. Lawsuit information added.
357 Customs is falsely credited as being a guitar company, which it is not. 357 Customs didn't sell anything, just dealt in 3rd-party resale, although it has come to light that, if nothing else, they have scammed many people out of their money. Just a clarification. Evhagar5150 17:35, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] this article sucks!

NPOV not adhered to. and what the hell are his TV/album appearences doing in the 2nd paragraph itself? It's not supposed to be an advertisement and Zakk does not need help of these finge artists just to reinforce the fact that he is a great player. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Beatallica (talkcontribs) 00:37, 1 July 2006.

[edit] Quick fix

Removed some pretty obvious vandalism from the Gear section:

"Zakk is very good friends with fellow musician Michael Jackson and before his trial, Jackson gave him a custom made Fender guitar that was Jackson's 1984 signature fender Telecaster guitar, painted pink with a naked picture of Maculley Culken on it with Zakk's Balls-eye graphic on Maculley's "Dirty parts" and this is the guitar that Zakk used to record some songs on his latest album though he has denied the claims of useing the guitar on the album the guitars distinc sound can be heard on parts of the song concrete jungle among other songs."

I'll try to go through the entire article in the next couple days and see what needs cleaning up. Seriously, people, try to cut down on the excessive faggotry on the Discussion page. It scares me that the same people who can't string an entire sentence together in coherent English or type any better than a monkey with oven-mitts on are allowed to edit the Wiki.
