[edit] Tanzanian stamps
It's quite possible that the choice of subject for that series had all of five minutes of thought somewhere in the bowels of a government ministry - they may even have been chosen for saleability to stamp collectors, rather than because of any real connection to Zanzibar. It's a sad truth that these days many stamps are basically colored stickers sold for high prices; for instance, a 1999 issue of Tanzania was "Birds of Japan", nothing to do with Tanzania and everything to do with Japanese topical collectors of birds on stamps. [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Zanzibar leopard.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:Zanzibar leopard.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation.
(Note that images uploaded to Wikipedia must have a free use license, such as the GFDL or Creative Commons license. If you do not own the copyright to this picture, or do not have an explicit release of rights from the photographer, this image may not be used.) ˉˉanetode╦╩ 21:57, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for clarifying the copyright. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 22:00, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, uploading images to Wikipedia can turn into a convoluted process. If you are looking for an easy way to license your photographs, I'd like to suggest the Creative Commons licenses. If you add {{cc-by-2.5}} it makes the image available for people to use as long as they give credit in a manner you are free to specify. Adding the share-alike "sa" parameter ({{cc-by-sa-2.5}}) makes it so that derivative works based on your images retain the free-use license. Also if you add your photographs to the Wikimedia Commons (commons:special:upload) then contributors from other Wikipedias (that is, Wikipedias in other languages) can easily include your photos to other articles. Of course there are other ways to license and use images, and I hope that you find one that you feel comfortable with. Anyway, welcome to wikipedia! ˉˉanetode╦╩ 22:18, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Karibu!
Hello Zahir Mgeni, welcome and thanks for your great work on Digo language and Nena people (among others)! It's nice to come across someone else editing (East) Africa-related topics. Judging from your contributions, I thought you might be interested in the Africa-related regional notice board ; and probably in WikiProject Countering Systemic Bias, too.

- Shukurani! I'll check those out. I've been impressed by your own contributions and will help out where I can (when not trying to earn a living!) Zahir Mgeni 13:49, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
