Zachary High School

'Zachary High School' is located in Zachary, Louisiana. The school colors are columbia blue and red. As of 2007, the Head Principal is Mr. Kevin Lemoine, The Assistant Principal for Administration is Mr. Scott Devillier, The Assistant Principal for Instruction is Ms. Marla Banks, and the Dean of Students is Mrs. Theresa Pelichet.

The school offers a growing assortment of Honors, AP, and upper level classes, along with a strong and prosperous regualar education program. Zachary High School's academic structure develops and educates a broad and diverse student body, making it an ideal institution of learning for people of all social classes, ethnicities, races, and attitudes. Over 1,000 students attend the school, double the state and district averages.

The 2006-2007 freshman class was the first to be initiated into the "Freshman Academy". The Freshman Academy is designed to help freshman successfully develop and adapt to high school work and life. Coordinator of the Freshman Academy is Mrs. Donna Kline.

The school mascot is Bucky the Bronco and Zachary High athletes compete in varsity level sports including Baseball, Softball, Boys and Girls Track and Field, Boys and Girls Cross Country, Boys and Girls Soccer, Golf, Bowling, Swimming, Wrestling, Boys and Girls Basketball, Boys and Girls Weightlifting, Football, and Volleyball.

Zachary High is also very proud of its successful and award winning organizations including but not limited to: JROTC, Band, Dance Team (The Bronco Belles), Colorguard, and Drama. As well as a number of service and volunteer oriented clubs.

In 2002 the community of Zachary split from the East Baton Rouge Parish School System and formed The Zachary Community School System. The first classes under the new system began in the 2003-2004 school year. The first and current (as of 2007) Superintendent of Schools is Mr. Warren Drake. Since the development of The Zachary Community School System, Zachary Schools have lead the state in performance and growth. Construction of the brand new Copper Mill Elementary School was completed in 2006, as well as major renovations to Zachary Elementary School. Zachary High School and Northwestern Middle are currently being developed/renovated (2007) and look to be finished in the next few years.
