[edit] Old images, new images

Hi. Welcome to Wiki. I see you've taken an interest in the pages for the Mario characters. That's totally cool. But I'd like to give you a pointer about images. Generally, the sentiment is that the top image should be one of the most recent representation of the character. That's why most of the images up are promotional art that's come out in the past two years or so — not how they looked in 8-bit days. I think the original portrayals should be valid too, but they should be placed lower in the article, as they're not the most immediately accurate. So don't be surprised if me or someone else goes through and changes the images back in the next day or so. Also, the general format for photos tends to stagger them so that the first is right justified and the next left justified. It helps makes the page look better. Just a tip. [edit] Image:Princess Daisy.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Princess Daisy.gif. Please add an appropriate copyright tag to the description page, or it may be deleted. See Wikipedia:Image use policy for more information. Thanks and happy editing! --Jtalledo (talk) 07:03, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

Ditto for Image:Mario's Old Girlfriend, Pauline.gif. --Jtalledo (talk) 07:04, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
Okay. Ditto for all the images you've uploaded. --Jtalledo (talk) 07:07, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
  • Again, please look at Wikipedia:Image use policy and Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the proper method of tagging image files. While we can tell who uploaded an image, tagging is necessary so we know where the uploader obtained that image (did they create it, did they find it on a website, etc.). tregoweth 06:27, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

This message is regarding the page Princess Daisy. Thanks for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and has been removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. [edit] Image:Mario NES Compartment.PNG

Did you take the photo at Image:Mario NES Compartment.PNG? If so, you can remove the "no source" tag and tag it with something more appropriate (see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags). tregoweth 00:49, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging

Many of the images that you have tagged as game-screenshot are not, in fact, game screenshots. They look like they might be promotional images, and may be taggable as those if you can give a source.

Please stop replacing "no source" with inappropriate or nonexistent tag names. <font face="Georgia">''tregoweth''</font> 16:42, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

  • Please stop tagging publicity images of video game characters as screenshots. A screenshot is a shot of a game in action. The character images you have uploaded appear to be promotional images; if you indicate where you got them, they might be taggable with {{promophoto}}. If you do not provide a valid or verifiable source, they will be deleted. tregoweth 03:25, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Leslie Swan

Hi. Please stop re-creating the Leslie Swan article. It was nominated for deletion, and the community consensus was to delete the article. It will continue to be deleted. —Cleared as filed. 05:21, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

  • Hi, please don't re-create Leslie Swan, and don't redirect it to another article. Tomsteele 17:41, 18 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Block

Please do not recreate this article without good reason. You appear to be a pretty good user; therefore, I hate to do this. However, persistant recreation of a deleted article is not appropriate. If you dispute this or think that I have acted in error, please let me know. I hope you continue to make legitimate edits after your block period is over. -- Psy guy Talk 05:45, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

Many people edit encyclopedias and however have something only on one page.

[edit] Image:Peach2small.jpg

Your re-upload of Image:Peach2small.jpg has been deleted. I deleted it earlier because no source information was ever added. Please stop re-creating deleted material, or you will be blocked again. tregoweth 05:25, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Promotional images

Please indicate exactly where you are getting these promotional images from. If there is no way to verify where you are obtaining them from, they will have to be deleted. (Also, the image history shows who uploads images, so you don't have to sign them with your username; we know it's you. :) ) tregoweth 06:35, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Asako Kozuki

Why did you delete the content from this page and replace it with "This page does not exist. Check the Jen Taylor page under "Actresses Before Jen Taylor"? There is no section titled that and there shouldn't be. I have reverted the article back to how it was before you first removed its content. Deletion of valid content is considered vandalism, as is the creation of, or implication of, redirects to unrelated an unhelpful articles. This "compromises the integrity of the encyclopedia." Please do not do this in the future or it may lead to your being blocked again. WAvegetarian 15:27, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Some tips

Please Stop messaging people with false accusations. The talk pages of articles are for discussing changes to the article, not discussing the subject of the article. (That is, Talk:Mario Golf is for discussing the article about Mario Golf, not the game itself.)

Also, please read the links in the first message on this page; many of your edits don't fit Wikipedia style, which is why they have been reverted. tregoweth 23:37, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sigh

I hope you read this. I know you like the Wikipedia and video game characters, but I really wish you'd better familiarize yourself with Wikipedia policies, which nice people have kindly posted at the top of this page. Don't do it your way. Do it our way. Everyone one will be happy and you can contribute better to overall Wikipedia quality. Otherwise, you're just going to be frustrating a lot of nice people who care about the same things you do. Is that acceptable? Kidicarus222 05:32, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Page move?

Why did you move Alice in Wonderland (1951 film) to Alice in Wonderland (1951 Film) and back? tregoweth 04:09, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

At the same time, you could also ask him why he moved Donkey Kong 64 to Tiny Kong and back. I think that another account that acted strangely like this one (I can't find it now) also moved a talk page to a completely different subject and back. I, like you, have been watching his edits (including his IP, 24.119.56.136) for a while now. I'm getting a little bit annoyed with this guy... -- RattleMan 23:18, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
Today he moved "Amy Rose" to "Amie Rose" (which is completely wrong) and back, then "Amy Rose" to "AMY ROSE" and back. He also moved "Cream the Rabbit" to "Cream (Sega Character)", which he did not move back, so I moved it for him. What the? -- RattleMan 21:52, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
He also moved the Wart (Nintendo) page to King Wart without consulting anyone. The annoying part is that the character is never called "King Wart" anywhere in the games. Kidicarus222 04:22, 3 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] WARNING

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This concerns all your non-sensical edits and moves you made during the last few months. Jonny2x4 02:57, 3 December 2005 (UTC)

More Zach fun: He says tregoweth changing an image to nosource is illegal, and claims that calling the Mario Princess "Princess Peach" is vandalism. Just a few minutes ago I moved one of his moved pages back; he moved "Mario and Wario" to "Mario & Wario". I think this might be getting a little out of hand... -- RattleMan 05:03, 3 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:DK64_Tiny_Kong.PNG

Thanks for uploading Image:DK64_Tiny_Kong.PNG. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairusein|article name}} or {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. Just so you know, he's back as 24.119.56.136 (talk contribs), making stupid edits once again. I would call it bandodging since it hasn't been a full week, but he has edited from it before and you didn't block that one when you blocked this one. -- RattleMan 07:37, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Mario NES Compartment.PNG has been listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded, Image:Mario NES Compartment.PNG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

[edit] What's with your username?

You know that you are going to get a boatload of more spam now that your email address is on a ton of talk pages, article histories, etc.? Hbdragon88 06:59, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Enough.

This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize a page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. - A Link to the Past (talk) 19:46, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] i'm sorry

I'm sorry about my brother's um... contributions. I didn't realize he knew how to use this site. My brother is autistic and homeschooled, and I happened upon this on his computer today. I'll do my best to explain to him why what he's doing is wrong and get him to stop giving you grief. Hope this gets to somebody... This is his sister by the way.

  • Thanks. He hasn't been doing anything truly awful, and he has made some useful edits; he just needs someone to keep an eye on what he's doing. tregoweth 04:17, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

He won't even respond to you. The only one who responds is his sibling. Anyway, yes, that is his IP (see here and here). -- RattleMan 05:07, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your user page

Hi there. I've noticed that you've been adding a lot of content to your user page. You may want to review Wikipedia:User pages, particularly these parts (emphasis added):

Generally, you should avoid substantial content on your user page that is unrelated to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a general hosting service, so your user page is not a personal homepage. Your page is about you as a Wikipedian.
Do not include non-free images on your user page or on any subpage thereof. Non-free images (images uploaded to Wikipedia without the permission of the copyright owner, or under licenses that do not permit commercial use) are permitted on Wikipedia in articles only where their inclusion is permissible as "fair use" under copyright law. However, this argument does not apply to user pages. Non-free images found on a user page (including user talk pages) may be removed from that page without warning (and, if not used in a Wikipedia article, deleted entirely).

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a message on my talk page or email me. tregoweth 16:19, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

  • I've removed the copyrighted images from your user page. If you have any questions, please leave a message on my talk page or email me. tregoweth 03:50, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Princess Zelda 16-bit.PNG

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Princess Zelda 16-bit.PNG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL.
