Zé Castro, fullname José Eduardo Rosa Vale e Castro (born 13 January 1983 in Coimbra), is a Portuguese football central defender who currently plays for Atlético Madrid in the Spanish La Liga. Castro played for the main team of his hometown's Académica de Coimbra O.A.F. in the Portuguese SuperLiga between 2003 and 2006. He had been previously a youth system player of Académica de Coimbra since childhood.

At Coimbra Zé Castro impressed as he was captain of the Squad despite his young age. After the 2006 season was over, Zé Castro had offers from Celtic FC, Tottenham Hotspur, and Bayern Munich.

In off-season 2006 he signed for Atlético Madrid from Madrid, Spain.
