Police Constable Yvonne Hemmingway was a character in the popular ITV drama The Bill. She was played by Michele Austin.
PC Yvonne Hemmingway was in series for three years, and is of Afro-Caribbean extraction. She is a skilled area car driver, and has served as Acting Sergeant twice; once while June Ackland was on her honeymoon and the other time when Dale Smith was (wrongly) imprisoned for murder. Yvonne's career looked to be over when she faced criminal charges due to a young man she arrested dying after she struck him with her ASP. An enquiry was held, and she was acquitted of all charges when it was ruled she acted in self-defence.
