Yutaro

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yūtarō (ゆうたろう) is a common Japanese given name for males. The characters used for "taro" (太郎) mean "first son", which is why the name is seen only for males. The "yu" part of the name can use a variety of characters, each of which will change the meaning of the name ("勇" for bravery, "優" for kindness, "悠" and so on).

"Yutarō" was the name of a character in the anime and manga Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X in the English OVAs). This character had the name ゆたろう, which would be Yutarō in English. The short vowel "u" distinguishes the name from Yūtarō.
