Yunus Khalis was a Mujahid leader from 1980 to 1992. He was supported by Pakistan. He was a hardline fundamentalist. He liberated most of eastern Afghanistan including Naangarhar, Khost, Paktia, Laghmaan from Communist rule. His men committed a lot of crimes from 1991-1996. He was not as strong as his counterpart Engineer Gulbuddin Hekmatyar.
