'Yun means "clouds" in Chinese' - I disagree. Even though it can also mean 'cloudy' as in 'cloudy sky', I believe it refers to "Yin" as in "Yin-Yang".

You know if Yun looks like Duo, Yang looks like Trowa Barton.

[edit] Merge

  • I'd just like to come out and say I'm against the merge. Yun and Yang are distinct characters. You might as well merge Ryu and Ken. Danny Lilithborne 23:39, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
    • It's more about notability than who's a distinct character and who isn't. Bebop and Rocksteady are distinct characters, but there's not much you can say about them separately. Likewise, there's not much you can say about Yang without mentioning Yun and vice versa. Even in the two or three games in which Yun was playable and not Yang, Yang still appears with him as part of special techniques or introductory poses. You cite Ken as a counter-argument, but unlike Yun and Yang, the designers of Street Fighter II took Ken into his own direction apart from Ryu, just like Nintendo did with Luigi. • Yang has a different personality, different backstory and different moves, though. I don't see a real good rationale to merge them. Danny Lilithborne 20:14, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
      • Uh, no. AFAIK, Yun and Yang has a shared backstory ("they're the Lee brothers", "trained by their grandfather", "blah blah blah"). They even have a shared ending in the first two SF3 games (not sure about 3rd Strike). And personality difference are something that could be noted on the article.Jonny2x4 05:42, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Well I say that they stay seperate. my reasoning is that they are two seperate playable characters. if they were onley useable in a tag-team. then yeah merg them, but as it stands no. plus yun was the only one playable in Capcom vs SNK2 so I think he deserves some respect!

  • I'm not going to come out 100% against the merge, but something that gives me pause to merge them is just how much more Capcom has pushed Yun over Yang outside SFIII. Yun is a playable character in CvS2, Fighting Evolution, and the GBA version of SFA3, while Yang's been regulated to cameos. The Bebop and Rocksteady is a good example of distinct characters that really can't be discussed individually, but in this case you have a character who has more appearances and arguably more content to write about, which might create an article about Yun that sort of has stuff about Yang as well. A merge still might be the way to go, but I wonder what people might think about the potential disparity between the characters that a merge might create. El Cid 06:29, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
  • The real problem comes from the fact capcom's never really tried separating the two beyond them being two different characters, but that didn't add a whole lot. Still on the flip side you could easily expand both articles to include much more information on how the characters are individually, something that might easily get lost in comparisons and contrasts for a joint article. So I'm neutral on this one, though leaning towards leaving them separate.--Kung Fu Man 13:21, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

While the fact remains that Yang has been pushed into the background quite a bit he is still his own character in all 3 games of the Street Fighter 3 series. There is really no reason to seperate the 2 characters.Pinkal Peaches 11:24, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

  • do not merge - two seperate characters. Yun and Yang are just like Ryu and Ken for the SF3 generation. Merging these 2 characters would be like merging Ryu and Ken's articles. All fighting game characters have their own article - You wouldn't merge Lilith into Morrigan's article even though she is supposed to be from Morrigan's body. She is still a seperate character.
