Yuanlin, Changhua

Yuanlin (員林) is an urban township in central Changhua County, Taiwan, Republic of China. Since 1949, the ROC has been based on the island of Taiwan.
Yuanlin has been assarted since the time of Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty(1723-1735). It was well-developed about the 16th year of Qian-Long. People in the early periods cut down the forest around Yuanlin to build their house. Gradually, the round woodland was left; therefore, it was named 圓林(Yuanlin), which means the round woodland. Afterwards, it was changed to 員林(Yuanlin). Yuanlin produces different kinds of fruits, and succade is one of its specialty goods.
