Youth Centre for non-formal education - CnC

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Three and a half years ago we started to work as a local Youth Club because there was a need for a place where youth can express themselves creatively. In that time, we where the only Youth Club in Osijek. We started by doing youth work on the streets and places where youth with less opportunities hang out. Just talking with them, we conducted a research of needs and according to that we organized a program of future work. At the beginning, there where dancing and music workshops, concerts and free time for socializing and entertainment games used by around 50 members. Following that, drama, juggling, educational workshops and help service for formal education. Our membership grew rapidly over the years. After this period, we gave an example and three (informal) Youth Clubs opened in Osijek and we decided to focus on giving the youth new opportunities by informing them and creating international connections. Now, our work on a local level in the community is oriented towards creation of opportunities for youth to grow and adapt to the upcoming changes. By that goal, we have developed a program of active participation of youth to ensure the rising of their awareness, in short, to prepare them to become youth of Europe with all the benefits and responsibilities. We, at the Youth Centre for non-formal education - CnC (stands for: Creators not consumers), www.cnc-os.hr with our different contents, workshops and programs offer the children and the youth the possibility to positively reaffirm and find them selves. Besides our competent personnel, who with their experience achieve results we have a large number of youth that can contribute to our goals, Now we have more than 500 members of which 30 volunteers conduct workshops and field work (peer to peer) with other youth in our community. On the national and international level our work is oriented toward implementation of our national program for youth development and development of active citizenship. Also, we are creating opportunities for networking, capacity building and exchanges for youth, in the partnership with NGOs from SEE and EU through the YOUTH Programme.
