Youth is a 2002 Tamil movie starring Vijay. The film did not well at the box office and it's remembered for its hit song "Althota Boopathy..." that made the words a tagline that was used in many other following movies.[citation needed] In addition to Vijay, the film features Sandhya, Yugendran, Vivek, Manivannan, and Haneefa. Simran did a cameo appearance for a song.

Shiva(Vijay)'s uncle wants him to marry her daughter but she feels his profession of a cook is too lowly for her. But he takes it lightly, moving to Chennai with the girl's brother. He falls in love with Sandhya(Sandhya), who gives him hope that she too reciprocates his affections. But one day she announces her engagement to computer engineer Pratap(Yugendran) at a party. Sandhya is even more shocked when Shiva tells her he loves her. Finally she understand she love him too and they get married.
