[edit] Music career

In 1991, Rome and his childhood friends Marques Houston and Kelton Kessee formed Immature, an R&B band. They released their debut album, On Our Worst Behavior, in 1992 on Virgin Records. The trio released three more major albums: Playtime Is Over, We Got It, and The Journey, all of which were successful.[citation needed] Under the new name IMx, the group sold two more albums: Introducing IMx and IMx before disbanding in 2002.

In 2004, Rome released his debut solo album, Food For Thought', which had the singles "After Party (featuring Omarion and Marques Houston)" and "Freaky (Guerilla Black)". In 2005, Rome was featured on Marques Houston's Naked album in "All Because Of You". That same year, Rome released a single, "For Your Love", which featured Marques Houston. In 2006, Rome recorded "Hey sexy (The Way You Move)" featuring Rufus Blaq.

Rome has announced that he will be releasing a new album in 2007 under his birth name of Jerome Jones. He says he has grown out of the name Young Rome, an alias from his immature days.[citation needed]

[edit] Eye condition

Jerome wore an eye patch to cover his sleepy eye while a member of IMx. Rumors circulated about his eye condition. However, Rome clarifies the situation in the following verse from "Look Down On Me", from his debut album Food For Thought:

"I remember when Brandy Norwood hit me in my eye
I had a detached retina (and) my lens came out, I had to have 3 eye surgeries. And she thought we’ll never be cool again. But I put that on my life
I love her to death. If she hear me talking, I know she can hear the honesty in my voice and my sincerity"
