The yet untitled "Young Bond Book 4" is the fourth novel in the Young Bond series depicting Ian Fleming's superspy James Bond as a teenager in the 1930s. The novel, which has already been completed by Charlie Higson, will be published as a hardcover in the UK in September 2007 by Puffin Books. [1]
Prior to the release of SilverFin Higson said that Young Bond Book 4 would be set in the Alps [2], however, the location has now been changed to Mexico and the Caribbean. [3] The book, which will take place in 1934, will feature a female as the main villain, although originally the character was written as a male. [4] This will be the third James Bond novel to feature a female as the main villain, following Fleming's From Russia with Love and John Gardner's For Special Services. Previously a female villain was featured in Double or Die, though the character is not considered the main villain.
Book 4 had previously been announced as a 2008 release, before the publishing date was pushed up to 2007. With Double or Die also being published in 2007, this creates a unique situation - the first time (not counting years in which film novelizations were published, or installments of The Moneypenny Diaries) that two full James Bond novels have been published in the same calendar year.
