Young's Scouts

Young's Scouts were a group of United States Army soldiers during the Philippine-American War who were organized by a Connecticut National Guardsman named Henry Young. These soldiers were tasked with scouting for the 1st North Dakota Volunteer Infantry and the Second Oregon Volunteer Infantry. The Scouts acted as an advance guard for the 1st North Dakota Volunteer and other elements of the force and were comprised of 25 men, 16 from North Dakota, 4 from Oregon and 5 others. Henry Young was killed and 13 of his Scouts were awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor
