WV site requested collaboration
Hi, Young American. I came across your name when I was looking at the article on the Mountain Party while doing some research on Bob Henry Baber. Thought you might be able to contribute to the upgrade of the WV page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Virginia
which was nominated for collaboration. I did a little work on the cultural listings and will do more as time allows. Maybe you have a particular area of interest or expertise?
Where'd you get the cool way to add a comment?
Thanks!

I'd love it if you'd put the "thingy" on my page...thanks for your encouraging words. --Beth Wellington 21:35, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

I figured out how to change the box color to lavender, but was wondering where on wikipedia one could find the names of colors available. Trial and error showed me that lilac wasn't, but aqua was, for instance... This isn't the only thing i've geen working on today, I promise, Thanks, --Beth Wellington 20:26, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Mississippi Mud Pie
I have done a fix on Mississippi Mud Pie. There was no need for a move, i simply delted the entire articel and then restored only the revisions on the dessert. Then since consensus was clear, i closed the AfD as a speedy keep of the rewritten version. I trust you approve. DES (talk) 22:24, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Sigs
You can put wikitags in them, just like in normal pages. Try using subscriptsuperscript, or colors for some tricks. >Radiant< 22:59, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
okay interesting i suppose you visited my user talk thing i am not as old as you nor am i married
- Yup, there are people that put a welcome message on empty talk pages to help people learn how to edit Wikipedia. youngamerican (talk) 23:47, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
Can you help me edit my bad wiki page?
Dear Youngamerican,
A colleague of mine who uses my bio in a class she teaches as a resource (who put this page together in fact), just emailed me that the "Idit Harel Caperton" wikipedia page was marked in a strange way.
I just saw that you posted quality-control comment on a wiki page that has info about me, my education, and my work. Your style of commenting made me upset.
There must be another way of posting editorial and design suggestions, and sending a message to inform people about reviews and recommendations for changes -- rather than posting review like this on ther page itself. I invite you to think with me about better ways of doing this.
In any case, I clicked on your name, and your bio is impressive (advertisment?). And most important, we both have something in common: we love West Virginia; I also think it is the most beautiful state! (I am married to a West Virginian).
I hope you can help edit my page so it doesn't sound "like advertising from a conference" - as you stated.
I look forward to hearing from you ASAP, and hope to figure out how to clean up the page (and others) and implement your editorial sugggestions.
Your help is highly appreciated!
Best regards, Idit Caperton
- I sent you an email regarding the article. I'll spread the word around to some other WV-oriented users and we will work on improving the entry. Thanks for your feedback. youngamerican (talk) 20:05, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Welcome message
It might be a good idea to personalize your welcome message a little. I wouldn't exactly call myself a newbie to the wiki world. Maybe even a link to the page in question that drew your attention? It might require a different template though. --GoNINzo 20:09, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for the vote of confidence Youngamerican. A little bit of encouragement every now and then can good a long way. Cheers -- Ianblair23 (talk) 20:53, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

My RfA
Thank you Hello Youngamerican, and thank you for your support in my request for adminship! It passed with a final count of 63/4/3. I understand your concerns but if it makes you feel better I often read policy pages without editing them. I am honoured by the community support and pledge to serve the project as best as I can. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of interesting or unusual place names (2nd nomination)
Despite the overwhelming support for keeping the list in article namespace, the above relisting was closed early. At Wikipedia:Deletion review#List of interesting or unusual place_names, the deletion is being reviewed once more (to restore the list from Wikipedia to article namespace (it's currently at Wikipedia:List of interesting or unusual place names). -- User:Docu

Mrs. Caperton
Hey there Youngamerican! I made a few edits on Mrs. Caperton's article, which I found fascinating because I knew so little about her before you introduced me to it. I corrected a few internal links and improved some grammar, but other than those I didn't have much of a problem with it. There is just so much information gathered about her background, her education, and her work that it is hard to melt it all down into a crisp and clean-looking encyclopedic article (which isn't my forte)! I apologize for my late response...I've been trying to assist with the Cornish Wikipedia by creating stubs and templates (and attempting to excel at the language). --Caponer 05:55, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
Thank you!
Thank you very much for your support during my recent Admin election, I appreciate the trust that you have put in me. Please contact me if you have any questions, comments or concerns regarding my work as an admin.

My RfA
Hi! Thanks for your support in my request for adminship. It ended with a tally of (51/0/0), which means that William Plumer did not come back from the grave, after all!. As an administrator, I hope to better help this project and its participants: if you have any question or request for help, please let me know. - Liberatore(T) 12:05, 1 March 2006 (UTC) |
Also, a special thank for the comment in your vote. I hope to really become a good administrator! - Liberatore(T) 12:05, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
RFA Thanks
Thank you! Thank you for your support in my recent RFA. It passed 53/1/2 and I am now an administrator. I appreciate that some of you made exceptions to your usual requirements re length of service and so on because we've interracted positively in the past, or because of my credentials, so I will endeavour to use my new mop cautiously. I'm always open to feedback and gently constructive criticism. If you're not an admin and need some assistance do of course please let me know. Thanks again --kingboyk 00:23, 6 March 2006 (UTC) |
P.S. If you are interested in The Beatles, User:Lar has asked me to tag on a little note advertising the creation of a new Beatles WikiProject that we are currently setting up. Please sign up and help.

my RfA
Hi Youngamerican. 27? Account in 1997? Marshall? You must have been a freshman during Moss's last year, huh? That must have been great. Anyway, I wanted to thank you for taking the time to consider my RfA, which passed earlier this morning. Admins are sort of like vultures, cleaning things up and whatnot... well, as long as you don't think too much about it. If there's ever any project I can help you with, just ask; you know where to find me. ×Meegs 08:44, 11 March 2006 (UTC) |
Thank you
For your support on the MetroStars vs RBNY issue. It's been a tough week for us Metro supporters, and many of us are having a difficult time with the transition, which for many will never occur. Every bit of support, for whatever reason, helps. DR31 (talk) 15:32, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
My RFA
Thank you for supporting my RFA. I appreciated the show of support and all the kind words. If there's ever anything I can do to help with my new administrator status, please don't hesitate to contact me. --Myles Long 14:33, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
Riverbend Mall
Centralised discussion - where is it? Where would it be? I am thinking to propose this mall on AfD anyway - it's not even a major mall - it's some kind of a troubled mall. Will wait a few hours for your response tho. the.crazy.russian (T) (C) (E) 21:41, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
- I like hotdogs too. A new userbox is called for here, I think. :) the.crazy.russian (T) (C) (E) 21:48, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
I understand - but where would such a discussion be held? There are other things, incidentally, that I would propose for discussion at that place - like extending "no assertion of notability" as a CSD criterion to many things besides people, bands, and groups. What do you think about it? Where would I bring that up? the.crazy.russian (T) (C) (E) 22:27, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
- Proposed. Anxiously awaiting your well-argued opinion. the.crazy.russian (T) (C) (E) 23:38, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
Buckets of Rain
I would also like to say that "Buckets of Rain", and to be honest, most Dylan songs should have a page, and that's why I wrote it. But upon seeing the deletion request, I looked at Wikipedia policy, and it would appear that, according to the current policy, "Buckets of Rain" (and probably most songs by a given artist) is probably not "notable" enough to have a page. I think I disagree with that policy, but I'm curious as to why you think the song is notable enough to have a page. Tix 00:38, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
Mall #2
No consensus for sure... We'll work this out eventually. the.crazy.russian (T) (C) (E) 20:56, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
My RFA withdrawal :(
Hello Youngamerican, it is my apologies to bring you that I've withdrawn my RFA. Due to the lack of experience, I would go under admin coaching first before trying again later. I would thank you for your vote in this RFA whether you voted support, oppose or neutral for me. I appericiate your comments (if you do have) you made and I hope to see you here in future. --Terence Ong 14:43, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

I've been working on this article as a long-term featured article project. Unfortunately, I have a terrible time proofing my own writing (and spelling, for that matter). If you can give it a good once-over, I would gladly owe you a wikifavor of some sort. Cheers. youngamerican (talk) 13:32, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
"Wikipedia's most respected typo-finder"? Well, thanks for the compliment, it's nice to see that you appreciate my work – although I should point out that I'm just one of dozens of people involved with typo correction, many of whom have been doing it for longer than I have.
Anyway, at first glance Idit Harel Caperton seems to be pretty good stuff, certainly worthy of "Good article" status. I'll have a more in-depth look at it at some point, possibly not today as I don't have much time, but soon. – Gurch 13:47, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
