Yoshihide Hayashi

Yoshihide Hayashi (林 義秀, Hayashi Yoshihide) was a Japanese general of World War II. He held a range of significant posts in different parts of East Asia and the Philippines, rising to the rank of Lieutenant-General.
In 1940 he was in Staff Unit 82 [1] in Manchukuo. He became chief of the Taiwan Army Research Section, ranked colonel, and charged with investigating tropical warfare; the a major general with the Japanese 14th Army.[2] In 1943-4 he was Director-General of the Military Administration governing the Philippines[3]. Subsequently he had field commands with the 54th Division, the 24th Independent Mixed Brigade, and 53rd Division in Burma.
