York Regional Road 53

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

York Regional Road 53, locally known as Dufferin Street, is a north-south thoroughfare originating in Toronto and working into its way into York Region, crossing Steeles Avenue, through the towns/cities of Vaughan and King. The road is named for Lord Dufferin, who served as Governor General of Canada from 1872 to 1878.

York Regional Road 53 loses its Regional Road status at York Regional Road 16 or 18th Sideroad. However, Dufferin Street continues to the end of the Holland Marsh west of Newmarket and south of Bradford.

[edit] Toronto's Italian community

Since the 1960s, Toronto Italians have continued to disperse throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Many gradually moved north along Dufferin Street into Downsview and eventually to Vaughan, and other Toronto suburbs.
