[edit] History
York High School was constructed in 1954 as the public school for the white children of the area, with the York Middle School for the black children of the area during segregation. The school has been under renovation since the summer of 2005, and has recently returned to the school building. The trailers on the school's front lawn that housed classes during the renovation period are now used to house the classes of York Middle School while the Middle school building is being renovated.
The renovation of York High School was not very popular amongst the student body and the faculty, and still isn't. Although the time frame should have allowed more interesting changes to be made to the school's lay out, all that was altered was the paint on the walls (which is still being finished as of this writing), two new bathrooms, and integrated projector's into each classroom. Although the ceiling mounted projector's are useful, many teacher's continue to use the white board's regardless due to the mild difficulty of using the system and various faults in its implication.
