York Community High School is a school in Elmhurst, Illinois. There are approximately 2,525 students. York was established in 1918. The building saw many additions from 1950 through 1990, including a third floor, swimming pool, and additional facilities. After 2001, the city of Elmhurst passed a referendum to rebuild the school. Construction started soon after and the new building has separate academic, service, and athletics areas (including a new fieldhouse).

York competes in the West Suburban Silver Division, comprised of schools primarily in eastern DuPage County. The school colors are kelly green and white. Known for its boys cross country team, led by coach Joe Newton, the York Dukes have won 26 Illinois state cross country titles for a total of over 35 top-three finishes in the state final, in addition to one state track title. Recently, members of the York team have competed at the inaugural Nike Team Nationals (NTN) national high school championship cross country meet in Portland, Oregon, where they finished 1st in 2004 (with the club name "Kroy") and 2nd in 2005 (as "Elmhurst XC"). Cross country has won 26 state titles and one National Title.
The girls running team is also very successful claiming the state title in 2000, along with a number of top fifteen finishes in the Division AA state meet held annually in Peoria, Illinois.
A movie is currently being created about the Boys York HS running program called "The Long Green Line." The website for the movie is, www.longgreenlinemovie.com. The name comes from the the Dukes tradition where at the end of each Fall cross country season, they form a Long Green Line around the track across from the school.
The York High School football has won back to back conference championships, and in 2006 went to the state semifinals.
