Yonghe Dawang

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yonghe Dawang (永和大王) is a Chinese fast-food restaurant (originally from Taiwan) that specializes in noodles. Its franchises are open throughout China. It is notable because of the controversial logo it used for many years, which looked nearly identical to KFC's Colonel Sanders logo. It had the black and white figure of an elderly man with a beard, whose only disguising feature with Colonel Sanders was that he had a sunken face. In spite of repeated complaints by KFC the owners of Yonghe Dawang refused to change their logo. KFC's parent company even petitioned the courts in China, but the government ruled that KFC claims had no basis. In 2005 Yonghe Dawang replaced the controversial logo with that of a steaming bowl of noodles.
