Yong Chin Pak

Grandmaster Yong Chin Pak is the President of the National Collegiate Taekwondo Association, holding the position since 1986. He as an adjunct instructor in Exercise Sport Science and has been instructing students in the martial arts at Iowa State University since 1973.

He graduated from Yong In University with a 4 year degree in martial arts and then served as an instructor in self-defense for the Korean secret service. Although considered to be one of the top Judo competitors in Korea, Pak left 5 months before the selection of the Olympic team and accepted a coaching job at a high school in Hawaii. In 1972, Pak then accepted a job at the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska teaching Self-Defense before settling in Ames, Iowa, where he currently resides.

It is believed that he currently holds the ranks of 7th Dan in Judo, 8th Dan in Hapkido, and 8th Dan in Taekwondo.

Under Pak's guidance, the Iowa State Karate Club (coined as such due to the presence of a different Taekwondo club already in existence on campus) has won multiple national collegiate championships. Pak has also coached in both the Pan-Am and Goodwill Games.
