[edit] The travelling yojas

Yojas is not a homogeneous species but consists of different humanoids which has chosen a common way of life. A distinguishing feature for the yojas way of life is that they constantly are on the move. Some yojas tribes stay within the Sidland travelling around in gigantic colourful carriages pulled by rumblers. Other tribes travel around the whole of Disia with small stagecoaches pulled by different hippus animals. There are also several tribes of yojas travelling around on the rivers on rumblerhauled ferries. These ferries sometimes looks like whole villages floating along Disias rivers. It is believed that is has existed yojas in Disia for about 1500 years. The first tribes are believed to have been founded by groups that started to live on tracking and digging upp hidden scorpyre treasures in the Sidland. The legendary Zavior the Treasurefinder is, according to the yojas myth, the one who united these groups of treasurefinders and brought them together to a collective life.

[edit] The yojas way of life

Yojas are easily recognized on their colourful clothes and the characteristic flutes, so called yuiflutes, that they always carry with them. The yuiflutes are used to communicate over vast distances. With different melodies (that only members of the specific yojas tribe can interpret) they send hidden messages to each others without other people present understanding the content. The special flute manufacturers with the skill to create the flutes receives great respect by the tribes. The tribes consists of different categories (also called guilds) of members with separate functions for the group. In the tribal perifery are the scouts, askali. Askali holds lookout for robbers and wild beasts and warns the tribe with their flutes. In the center of the tribe there are categories of guards such as the knife throwers, akknu, the fire jugglers, jegeir (which also are responsible for the care taking of fire in the waggons and on the market places). The diggers, urgas, are tracking hidden treasures and take keep of various services within the tribe household. It is a part of every yojas education to make an apply to one of the tribes. After the approval of the applicant he or she has to do a series of trials. The result of the trials gives foundation for the board to decide if he or she are accepted in any of the guilds. As proof thereof the new yojas are given a yuiflute.

[edit] Leadership of the tribes

Silent rumores tells of an old foreteller, Zasai , that secretly rules over the different tribes with the help of an amulet created of a splinter from the ancient Spiriaen, said to give her the possibilty to change shape freely.

[edit] Yojas markets

As time has gone by the yojas has developed from a life of pure treasure hunt to the practice of trade and hosting markets. These markets has become a constantly recurring element in the Disian inhabitants sometimes monotonous lives. On the markets it is possible to find everything conceivable and to taste food from every corner of Draimia. Furthermore it is possible to visit foreseers, to see acrobates, jugglers, sword artists, illusionists, fireworks and strange things from the whole of Draimia. Especially appreciated are the practicers of the ancient martial art sparindo that seems to abolish the laws of nature and the highly valued bards that in the famous Lyxanders spirit sings mocking songs about the rulers. In addition to this it is also possible to participate in strength competitions, archery, card gamble and several other challenges. Shortly, things that are not seen on these markets are not even worth mentioning. The yojas markets usually last for three days.
