[edit] Yogani Article Clarification
I realize this article has been deleted before. What had happened was that the article had been originally deleted due to Yogani writing the article himself, without realizing that it was against the rules. Following the deletion of that article, I took it upon myself to create a new article on the subject which lasted until a few weeks ago, when it was deleted based on the comments of the original article. What I'm getting at here is that I believe there has been a mix up leading to the deletion of the recent article, which I was the author of. If for some reason the article was deleted for "notability" reasons, I can offer the following on the subject.
Yogani is the author of the Advanced Yoga Practices (AYP) websites and corresponding books. The free instructional websites of Advanced Yoga Practices have received over 100K unique visitors over the past three years (verifiable). The six books he has written so far are selling consistently (and often significantly) within the 100K rank level on Amazon in the USA, Canada and Europe (http://www.aypsite.com/books), and are in the process of being published in India as well. Yogani was interviewed on national radio in November and December (archived recordings and schedule can be found at http://www.aypsite.com/audio) and is scheduled for additional national radio appearances in January and beyond. I would hope that a subject who is currently redefining the way that spiritual practices are taught and utilized is extremely notable, if only for this reason alone. This is the main focus of the article, as it is what makes the subject stand apart from the many others in this field.
On the topic of advertisement, there is only one link to the website (in the links section), which would be certainly relevant to the article as it is the location of the subject's main body of work. Also, the website is 100% free, so there really isn't much to be gained from any kind of advertisement. If you'd like, I can create a list of many spiritual teachers with articles on Wikipedia containing a link to their website.
I hope we can get this sorted out, as this article should certainly have a home on Wikipedia. Maybe you can be a bit more clear as to what problems that you have with the article and we can move forward from there. Thank you for your time and have a great day. Mdyogi 19:23, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up! I've restored the article and removed the speedy tag. I urge any deleting admin to review the above text before deciding whether to delete again, and I suspect that if anyone feels this should be deleted, Wikipedia would be better served by using WP:AFD at this point. - CHAIRBOY (☎) 20:55, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Petition to have tags removed from article
Hello, I have now cited sources and rewritten portions of the article that may have been seen as written in the style of an advertisement. If there are any further problems with the article, please point them out specifically so that I may make the proper changes. Thanks and have a great day. Mdyogi 00:27, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you, Sfacets. Your help in this matter is appreciated. Mdyogi 03:12, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Future plans for article
Future plans for the article include expanding the introduction, and reorganizing/replacing the internal links to meet Wikipedia standards. Mdyogi 06:08, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- May I suggest you prioritize trying to find some third party sources to give credibility to the article? Otherwise it is in danger of being deleted, which would be a shame, given how much work you have already put into it. Sfacets 06:16, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

- Hi Sfacets. Thank you for the suggestion. I will get to work on that over the weekend. :) Mdyogi 18:15, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Question Regarding Sources
Yogani has recently done three radio interviews and is scheduled for three more this month, the soonest one being Sunday. There is plenty of information in the interviews, which have been archived and are available for streaming or download at http://www.aypsite.com/audio.html, so they can be verified. The interviews have been conducted on a talk radio show in Cincinnati (1360 WSAI [1]) called "Yoga - The Other 98 Percent", and simultaneously broadcast live on the internet. I was originally going to use these as sources in the article as there is plenty of information there, but the closest I could find to a radio interview in the Wikipedia guidelines for sources was for video. Would these interviews qualify as sources, so long as the information referenced is contained within the interviews, or would I run into a problem again due to the archives being hosted on the AYP site? Thanks for your help and have a great day. Mdyogi 20:36, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Changes underway
I have started by removing the sections of the article which can not currently be verified to Wikipedia standards. Using a recent radio interview as a source, I have rewritten the entire Biography and other sections of the article. As more sources become available in the future, I will maintain the article, adding new information and citing as necessary. Please let me know if I am on the right track here. Thanks. :) Mdyogi 02:45, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
