Yitzhak Harel

Aluf Yitzhak "Haki" Harel (b. 1957) is a general in the Israel Defense Forces and the current head of the Israeli Planning Directorate. He was born in Israel and graduated from Haifa University with a B.A. in State Affairs. He has also studied at the IDF Command and Administration Academy. Harel joined the IDF in 1975 and advanced through the ranks of the armor corps. In 2002 Harel was promoted to the rank of Major General as the new Northern Corps commander, and in December 2003 he entered his current post. He is planning on retiring from military service within a few months of April 2006.
