Yilan City

This article is about Yilan City, Taiwan. Yilan is also a county and town in Heilongjiang province, China [1]

Yilan City (Chinese: 宜蘭市; pinyin: Yilan shi; Wade-Giles: I-lan Shih; Taiwanese POJ: Gî-lân-chhī), commonly and historically spelled Ilan or I-lan, is the capital of Yilan County, Taiwan. It is on the north side of Lanyang River. The first Han Chinese settled there in 1802. Its name comes from the Kavalan tribe of Taiwanese aborigines.
