[edit] Summary

Pair of Stoneware Spindles: These spindles were used to create straight lines in architectural laying out of property. The two disks and space for the cord to wrap around were to be held as they were stretched. The stoneware is in a gray-green tonality as glaze and the center line is obvious. Attractive functional cultural pieces. Perhaps 17th century.

From the private collection of Paul V. and Elizabeth J. Colaianni.
