Uhh.. I got a question (This question answered, look to next question)

I am new to Wikipedia, and I wish to add content on it such as spyware programs and how to remove them. If I am rating spyware programs, and saying how effecient they are or if I am simply saying if they are harmful, would that break the terms? I want to put down Spyware Nuker which is a Rogue Anti-spyware program that automatically downloads itself and has to be removed forcibally. Would I be taking sides if I say it is mallicious?

Hi. as the note says below - Welcome! I posted the welcome message because it has some good links to help you learn more about how to be a good editor, but let me also address you specific questions. There is already a Spyware article with links to a significant number of spyware programmes, you should read a few of those to get an idea of what sort of tone and words are acceptible. This category [1] also lists a number of rogue programmes, might be worth reading these too. It is probably not idea to call something malicious without sources. However if you can find a verifiable source that says it is malicious (such as a newspaper, reputable newswebsite etc) then you can quote them as saying it. If you can't find that then its best to avoid calling it malicious. However, if there are no sources talking about this programme, then it might not be notable enough to warrant an article in the first place (see WP:SOFTWARE). Hope that helps, just reply below if you would like any more help and i will answer, or else reply on my talk page, or else replace the {{help me}} tag (which i am going to remove in the meantime.) Good luck! Rockpocket (talk) 06:10, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

There are many many many articles that state that Spyware Nuker is a mallicious software. I should just put that into the refer to box? ALSO, how do you put in the right hand corner a picture followed with some description as found on many wikipedia pages? I am going to start writing my article, and then make improvements to it later. I will post the link when I am done so you can check it if you wish. Yesiammanu 02:06, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

  • edit* Acually, I am going to make the page on the weekend because I have exams this week. Yesiammanu 02:08, 10 May 2006 (UTC) Thanks for all your help!
see Help:Image_page for image formatting details. Go ahead and put it in, but be prepared to talk about it. -- Dbroadwell 02:36, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

I found someone abusing wikipedia edit pages; what should I do? (63.162.24.129)

Hi! If you see someone making edits that you feel fall under Wikipedia:Vandalism, you should follow the directions at Help:Reverting to revert the page to the last good version. Then, you can send a message to that user warning them not to compromise the integrity of pages. This is often done by finding the correct template to use from Template:TestTemplates and placing it on their user talk page. Finally, if the editor keeps vandalizing pages after you've given them their final warning, you can report them at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Thanks, and let us know if you have any more questions. EWS23 | (Leave me a message!) 05:11, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Helpme

Err... it's an ip... I can't exactly message someone that doesn't have an account right? ALSO about my second question, on the Help:Image page, it says all the things about the image page, but it never states HOW to make one. For example, I want to put http://www.defeatspyware.org/images/snbox.gif in the right image page with caption; how would i do that?

Yes you can leave messages on IP's talk pages, we do it all the time.
To use an image in Wikipedia it needs to be uploaded, this is explained at Wikipedia:Uploading images. However, in almost all cases images from the internet are not free and should not be uploaded.--Commander Keane 02:18, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
