Ydre Municipality

Ydre Municipality on Sweden's municipal map.

Ydre is a Swedish municipality in Östergötland County, in southeast Sweden. The municipality covers an area of 678.4 km² and has population of 4131, with a population density of 6 inhabitants per km². The municipal seat is located in Österbymo with 1,000 inhabitants. Other towns are Hedsta, Rydsnäs and Asby.

Of the total area of 680 km², 133 km² is taken up by lake Sommen.

At least two churches have a medieval foundation: The Asby Church in Asby, and Torpa Church on the countryside. There is also an attractive church from the 18th century, Norra Vi Church, located just by lake Sommen.
