Yaumati Theatre

Yaumati Theatre (油麻地戲院), once the largest theatre in Kowloon, is located in Yau Ma Tei, Hong Kong. It is classified as "Grade II Historic Building"[1]
It is located at the junction of Waterloo Road and Reclamation Street, the abandoned building is the only remaining pre-World War II theatre in Kowloon.
It was opened in 1925, it once played host to many famous films and Cantonese opera. It gradually lost customers to newer theatres in later time. Toward the end of its life, it screened erotic films to maintain its business. The theatre finally closed in 1998.
It is only one pre-war theatre building existed in Hong Kong. It is now being renovated and might become a permanent venue for Cantonese Opera.
Another historical structure, Fruit Market is adjacent to the theatre, across Reclamation Street.
