Yateley School

Yateley School is a secondary school situated in Yateley, Hampshire, UK. It educates for children aged 11 - 16. Its headmaster is Mr W Sarrell. The school received its official 'Perfoming Arts Status' and is now slightly art based. The school teaches a wide range of subjects for all ability ranged children.

The school is situated in Yateley and is the largest secondary school in Hampshire. The school is made up of a number of large buildings.

'A Block' has classrooms that teach many subjects. The bottom floor of 'A Block' teaches Geography, ICT, Psychology, Social Studies and Law. The second and third floor of 'A Block' teach all 3 sciences (Chemistry, Physics and Biology)

B Block is the largest building on the campus. The bottom floor has the main hall, the gym, reception, ICT rooms and staff offices as well as the nurses office. The second floor is modern languages such as French and Spanish. Finally, the third floor has large art classrooms and one classics room for Latin.

Connected to 'B Block' is The Brunel Building. The Brunel Building, named after Isambard Kingdom Brunel, has large technology rooms on the first floor. The next floor up has classrooms for Business Studies and PSHE. Through the ceiling of the second floor is the third floor. The third floor has large classroom with brilliant facilities for Graphics Lessons.

Opposite 'Brunel Building' is 'C Block'. Attached to Yateley School is yateley 6th Form. The bottom floor of 'C Block' is mainly the 6th Form Common Room and Study Room. However there are a few Maths Classrooms on the 1st floor and more on the 2nd floor. There is also 2 computer rooms on the top floor of C Block which are provided with excellent facilities.

On the other side of 'Brunel Building' is Home Economics buliding. The Home Ec buliding has 3 large classrooms that are used for cooking classes and catering classes. They are built with cookers, sinks, microwaves and everything you would need to cook whatever you needed to. There is also another technology classroom attached to the Home Ec buliding.

Situated on the playing fields is another small building known as 'The Hut'to the pupils. Located inside The Hut are 2 classrooms for teaching Childcare to upper school pupils.

The school also has a music block which comes with 2 clasrooms for lower and upper school students who study music and 1 classroom for upper school students. On the end of music block there is a corridor of small practice rooms which students can have private music lessons in, "jam" in at lunchtimes, or be used during lesson times to practice a piece.

'D Block' is on the complete other end of campus to 'A Block'. The teachers in 'D Block' have the joy of teaching subjects such as English, History and R.S (Religious Studies). English is situated on the bottom floor of 'D Block' and the school has many classrooms for the English Department. On the 2nd floor there is 3 classrooms for History, and a few classrooms for Religious Studies.

Yateley School is known for having fantastic facilities. On campus there is a large Swimming Pool, Drama Studios, Library, Sports Hall, Tennis Courts and 2 Large Playing Fields. Since being named a performing arts college, the school has introduced the new Dance Studio. The studio is estimated to cost £2 million and is extremely popular amongst pupils. It has large mirrors on the walls for practicality, a dance office for the teachers, Springboarded wooden floors, Lighting and a changing room for the girls. However the boys changing room is simply a 2 metre (width) gap in the wall, with 1 small window, and 1 red curtain for a door.

  • David Copeland - The "London Nailbomber" attended Yateley School and received 7 GCSE's. He was given the nickname 'Mr Angry' [1]
  • Richard "Abs" Breen, from the boyband, 5ive was educated at Yateley School
