[edit] Yateley Is Officially A Village
Yateley is officially a village. Please stop referring to Yateley as a town. Yateley is a large village, not a town!
- Yateley has a town council and is therefore offically a town. Verica Atrebatum 21:04, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Yately Forums
I've moved the link to The Yately Forums from the Trivia section to a new External Links section (the paragraph accompanying it was pretty POVvy so I've snipped that out). I'm not sure how relevant the site is though (how many residents actually post there etc; I'm not from the area), so if someone who knows better wants to snip it out go ahead. It was added by an unregistered user and it's their only contrib, so could be linkspam. Matt Eason 09:53, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Gun Powder Plot?!
Yateley was one of the early places the plot was discussed?! I'm not entirely sure there were even any man made structures in Yateley at that time. This smacks of being an old wifes tale. Can anyone clarify or back it up with a citation?
- Well, Lord Monteagle lived at Monteagle House, which dates back to c. 1540, and he had a part in foiling the plot. See http://www.hants.gov.uk/yateley_lionsclub/about_yateley.html . I'm not sure the plot itself was ever discussed in Yateley though. 143.252.80.100 17:05, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Center for Excellence in Arts... or something?
I left Yateley a few years ago, but as I left the school became a center for excellence for music art and drama I think. It meant that the school got £250 for every student there, plus £250 for any sixth-former doing 3 or more A levels. I only did 2, which upset them. I wasn't finacially viable.
Anyway... doesn't that deserve a mention? Also, someone should mention the fact that some t-wat spray-painted SLIPKNOT on a fence along Hall Lane and it never got painted over.
