Yao (八尾市 Yao-shi?) is a city located in Osaka Prefecture, Japan.

As of 2006, the city has an estimated population of 274,018 and the density of 6,561.06 persons per km². The total area is 41.71 km².

Yao is home to a general aviation airport, Yao Airport.

The city was founded on April 1, 1948.
