Yamid Amat

Yamid Amat is a Colombian journalist and one of the cornerstones of Colombian journalism. He studied at the Arlie Institute of Virginia in the United States and has worked with Colombia's major networks such as Caracol Radio and RCN Radio. He is better known for his work in radio, area in which he has worked since he started his life as a journalist in Caracol Radio, where he developed new styles of informing the audience.

Yamid Amat has worked mainly as a radio host where he presented news and morning programs. He hosted 6AM-9AM in Caracol Radio with great ratings. Later he became the director of Caracol Radio until his resignation.

After retiring from Caracol Radio, Yamid Amat created his own station dedicated only to 24 hours a day news programming. He was the CEO of RadioNet. RadioNet used the internet as one of its main sources of information.

Yamid Amat has been the director of TV news programs. He mainly worked as the director of CM& news. A Colombian news program broadcasted live every night during the weekdays.

Yamid Amat has been honored for his groundbreaking work in Radio and Television. He developed new formats and impulsed the careers of new people that became important in the Colombian media.

Among his merits are:

  • Order from the Colombian Congress in the grade of Knight's Cross
  • Four times winner of the Journalism Award granted by the C.P.B. (Journalism Colombian Association)
  • Nine times winner of the National Journalism Award "Simon Bolivar"
  • UNICEF award for his contributions to the Vaccination campaigns in Colombia
