Yamato nadeshiko

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yamato nadeshiko is a term used in Japan for a beautiful, perfect woman. An example would be the animé show yamato nadeshiko shichi henge. This title roughly translates as a transformation into a perfect woman (Yamato Nadeshiko).

The term finds its origins in World War II. It was the Japanese counter to the Allied 'idols' that were used to encourage the soldiers in battle.

Yamato Nadeshiko is also the Japanese name for a Dianthus superbus.
