[edit] Origin

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

[edit] Pre-Spriggan

According to information from the last volume in Spriggan, it was said that Yamamoto had been a Spriggan agent himself under ARCAM's Japanese branch when he participated in several covert activities against those who want to harness the power of the Out-of- place artifacts.[1] After he retired, he was subsequently placed into the ARCAM workforce, presumable rising through the ranks to become the chairman of the ARCAM Corporation's Japanese headquarters.

[edit] Post-Spriggan

Now head of ARCAM's Japanese headquarters, he took in Yu Ominae in his youth as a ward after he found out that he was an ex-COSMOS child soldier rescued by Oboro in South America. He then trained Yu in military and guerilla tactics in order to let him be activated as a Spriggan agent while being his handler. He was responsible for calling Rie Yamabishi back to Japan after learning that she was related to Yu Ominae due to their history[2]

Yamamoto became more and more involved with the company when he fought against COSMOS soldiers from raiding the interior of ARCAM's Japanese headquarters. Later on, he was forced to work with Henry Garnum when he went to the South Pole with Rie Yamabishi and other ARCAM personnel so as to harness the power of the Fire Snake from the South Pole Shrine. At the last minute, he and the others turned on Henry Garnum and Larry Markson, defeating their forces stationed in Antarctica and quelling the Fire Snake before it went out of control.

[edit] Non-Canon Apperance

Yamamoto played a minor in Spriggan: First Mission when he debriefed Yu Ominae on locating and securing the Megiddo Flame from the Machiner's Platoon.

[edit] Character

Since his days as the chairman of the ARCAM Corporation's Japanese branch, Yamamoto is a known smoker who would always make it a point to take a cigarette during his office hours. Aside from this, he cares for Yu's welfare like he was his own son ever since he became his ward, always making sure that Yu was all right before and after a mission was completed.

In the field, Yamamoto is not hesistant to use his firearms and will use them if he has too if he has to safeguard his lives or his colleagues.[3] It shows that he is competent in holding his own ground.

  3. ^ His firearm handling skills are shown when he held off COSMOS soldiers from taking over ARCAM's Japanese headquarters. During the Fire Snake chapter, Yamamoto was able to disable several Heckler & Koch MP5A5 submachine guns and AKS-47 assault rifles belonging to ARCAM Special Private Army soldiers sent by Henry Garnum after confronting Yoshino Somei when she sabotaged their operations to use the South Pole Shrine.
