[edit] YAML is a Markup Language?

Some points brought up on the JSON talk page:

  • The official acronym itself says it isn't a markup language ("YAML Ain't Markup Language")[1].
  • The intro to this article currently reads "YAML is a data serialization and lightweight markup language...".
  • The referenced Lightweight markup language article links to a related List of lightweight markup languages which lists YAML but then explicitly says that it's a "data serialisation language," not a markup language.

[edit] (Not to be confused with YAML, the abbreviation for "Yet Another Multicolumn Layout")

This should be a hatline. It's not only very ugly like this, but "not to be confused"-like messages shoud precede the contents to bu useful. Shinobu 11:58, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] C

Is there really no way to parse Yaml in C ?

[edit] deleted

I deleted the following, but can't remember what the template is to put at the top of a page to say "for the article on "yet another.." see Yet another..

The following sentence is a non sequitur:

"However since XML (a true document markup language) is frequently used for data serialization, it is reasonable to consider YAML a lightweight markup language."

This is like saying that since mugs are frequently used as pen holders, it's reasonable to consider (some specific) pen holder a mug.
