The Yale Literary Magazine, founded in 1836, is the oldest literary review in the nation, and publishes poetry and fiction by Yale undergraduates twice per academic year.
For more than 160 years The Yale Literary Magazine, Yale's "Old Lady in Brown," has featured the finest poetry, fiction, criticism, and artwork by Yale students. The first undergraduate magazine and the oldest literary review in the nation, the venerable Lit is at once proud of its tradition and responsive to its literary and artistic innovation.
A biannual publication of archival quality, the Lit reflects the vibrant literary and artisitic communities at Yale. Each semester the number of submissions greatly exceeds what the magazine can accommodate, testifying to the Lit's health and allowing the magazine to maintain its high editorial standards. A rigorous process guarantees the publication of the most mature work.
