Yakky Doodle

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yakky Doodle (voiced by Jimmy Weldon), is a fictional character created by Hanna-Barbera Productions, an anthropomorphic duck who lives with his best friend Chopper the bulldog. Yakky's name is an obvious takeoff of Yankee Doodle.

Yakky is always one to run into danger when it's most expected, usually in the form of the show's main antagonist, Fibber Fox (voiced by Daws Butler to sound like Shelley Berman). Chopper defends his diminutive friend ("Little Buddy") fiercely, and is always ready to pound the fox or any other enemy into oblivion if necessary. Yakky's tendency to put himself in great danger never draws a rebuke from Chopper, who presumably enjoys his protective role.

Yakky debuted on the "Gone To The Ducks" episode on the Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy segment of The Quick Draw McGraw Show. He later had his own segment of The Yogi Bear Show in 1961. Yakky also later appeared on Laff-a-Lympics.

Yakky Doodle made a cameo on an episode of Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, where in a darkly satirical moment, he wished to have his name changed but instead received a court-ordered chemical castration.
