From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The FT-290R is an amateur radio transceiver for the 2M VHF band. It was produced by Yaesu around 1981 and was one of the first models to feature both SSB and FM modes in a portable unit.
The FT290R covered 144-146 MHz (144-148 MHz in the USA and some other countries) with a power output of 2.5 Watts.
Because of its small size it became very popular and many still remain in use today.
