Yadavindra College of Engineering

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yadavindra College of Engineering is an outcome of a bold and a noble step taken by the Punjabi University, Patiala for providing technical education specially in the field of Engineering & Technology to the real and deserving people living in the rural areas. The University took a serious view about the facilities, services and opportunities available to the people of the rural areas compared to those of the urban areas. People living in cities have better schools & colleges, better teachers, better hospitals, better doctors, better transportation and communication systems etc. than that people living in rural area. By character, the villagers in general, are more humble, clear hearted, honest and more sympathetic and have lot of patience and better capacity to sacrifice. But they have been left far behind compared to their counter parts living in cities and thus are unable to compete with the urban people on the basis of merit. Taking stock of the situation, the University has taken this bold and noble decision to embrace such village children and improve their lot by providing Technical Education. With this in mind, the University decided to setup Yadavindra College of Engineering, exclusively for the rural area people. From 10+1 onwards to the completion of the Engineering Degree, the students will be imparted quality technical education at no cost. All the expenditure of education for the students coming to this college will be met-out through the Rural Students Scholarship Programme.Yadavindra College of Engineering is housed in the Information Technology Bhawan covering the area of more than 75,000 sq. ft., situated at Punjabi University Guru Kashi Campus, Talwandi Sabo. This college will be equipped with the latest and modern equipments in the various labs and workshops, library, computer center etc. and will have highly qualified faculty. Punjabi University has started B. Tech. in Computer Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engg. and Mechanical Engg. along with M. Tech. courses in all the above three branches from the current academic year in this college, so that a strong base of higher technical education is created in the 1st phase itself.
