YaBB (Yet another Bulletin Board) is a free open source message board and instant messaging system written in Perl. It was first released on July 4, 2000. YaBB doesn't use a third-party database management system, but instead its own flat file storage system. Modifications (usually using Boardmod) can be used to add new features to the forum.

YaBB has many features which makes it a secure bulletin board. The Guardian™ is a feature built into YaBB Forum which allows the admin of their bulletin board to block intruders, including proxy blocking, referer blocking, harvester blocking, request method blocking, environment string blocking, script blocking, UNION blocking and CLIKE blocking. YaBB Forum is also well equipped with IP ban, username ban and email ban. Spam controls are also available so the web server running does not become overloaded.

Features of YaBB include unlimited posts, unlimited members, unlimited boards, unlimited catagories, file attachments, private messaging, forum statistics, member banning, template configuration, email, unlimited smilies, member permissions (such as moderator, admin ect.), news fader, category permissions, board permissions, censored words and many, many more.
