Xunca

The Xunca are a fictional alien race from Alan Dean Foster's Humanx Commonwealth science fiction novels.
No physical description is available of them. They are noteworthy for having been the first race to discover the evil presence within the Great Emptiness a billion years ago. In response to this discovery they set up their transmitters and warning system on various planets in the galaxy. The race is presumed to have died out more than fifty million years ago but no direct evidence of this exists; they may have simply left the section of the galaxy now occupied by the Humanx Commonwealth to escape the Great Emptiness.
