Xuan Thuy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Xuan Thuy (19121985) was a North Vietnamese political figure. From 1963 to 1965, he was foreign minister for North Vietnam. Later in the Vietnam War, he was a representative of the North Vietnamese government to the peace talks with the United States in Paris. He was the official leader of the delegation to the secret talks with United States Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger, and was the main negotiator at the earliest meetings with Kissinger, for instance the initial meeting on August 4, 1969. In 1970, with the negotiations stalemated, Le Duc Tho was sent to take over as the main negotiator.
