"Escape" is a song by Michael Jackson, originally recorded between 1999 to 2001 by Michael Jackson for the album Invincible, but was later removed from the final track listing. It was edited again around December 2002, as it was likely scheduled for an upcoming release.
In early 2003, it was rumored that Jackson was working on a follow-up album to Invincible. In March 2003, "Escape" was illegally played by some radio stations around the world. When the plans for the upcoming album of new material were supposedly shelved soon after, Jackson and his label moved forward with the release of Number Ones in November 2003. Despite this cancellation, "Escape" managed to gain a place on several club music charts (despite only being available as an illegal download) around the world, including Australia and Greece.
In 2004, the song was left off of Michael Jackson's career-spanning boxed set, Michael Jackson: The Ultimate Collection, which consisted of several unreleased tracks recorded throughout his music career.
