Xiahou En
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Xiahou En (夏侯恩) was an officer of the Cao Wei in the historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. He was said to be born in 167, being a distant nephew of Xiahou Dun.
Xiahou En gained acclaim during a hunting trip when he saved Cao Cao from a tiger, earning the right to bear one of Cao Cao's personal blades, known variously as the Blue Blade or Qinggang (青釭). Subsequently, during an attack on Xu Province, Xiahou En gained fame for his archery, earning comparisons to his cousin Xiahou Yuan. Xiahou En served as a front line general in the struggle against Liu Bei, and at the Battle of Changban of 208, wounded the enemy general Jian Yong in a fierce attack, but was then slain by Zhao Yun, who had come in relief of the besieged forces.
In the Dynasty Warriors games, Xiahou En held not one, but two swords for Cao Cao but states that one of the two was stolen at Chang Ban; however, his fate remains largely the same as in the novelization.
