Xfanz is an adult news and community website that also features adult DVD and website reviews as well as blogs and viral videos [1]. It is the only online adult porn news source that combines social networking with insider industry news, videos and blogs. The site also includes web 2.0 bookmarking such as Fark and Technorati tags on all stories and reviews [2]. Xfanz also runs a YouTube channel and a MySpace page.

[edit] Site features

[edit] News

Xfanz reports on a wide range of news that is not limited to the adult porn industry. The site also offers mainstream articles about sex, politics and life. The Xfanz blog chronicles the staff's thoughts on current events and generally avoids direct discussion of the adult industry.

[edit] Videos

Xfanz produces their own video content, which falls into four main categories:

  • Interviews with adult stars and personalities.
  • Factoids: Mini-interviews in which adult stars reveal an obscure fact about themselves.
  • Coverage of adult industry parties and shoots.
  • Short movies starring the Xfanz staff and the occasional adult star porn star.

[edit] Community

The Xfanz community is a lot like MySpace. Users can make profiles with pictures and media. Any time an adult star makes an Xfanz profile, the staff confirms the identity of the star.

[edit] Video and Website Reviews

Xfanz ranks adult DVDs and Web sites on a five-star scale.

[edit] Fundraising

As a part of its formal launch party, Xfanz raised a combined $4,000 for two charities [1]: the Free Speech Coalition and the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection [2], which hunts down, reports and helps eliminate child pornography online.

[edit] History

Xfanz is a subsidiary of XBIZ, an adult industry publication and website. Created by owner Alec Helmy, Xfanz takes Web 2.0 features and marketing techniques and combines them with sound reporting and blogging about the adult industry and other topics about human sexuality.
